GROUNDED BY ANA

A cotton and stainless-steel grounding sheet that reconnects you with the earth while you sleep.

Grounded by Ana makes grounding sheets: a cotton fabric woven with stainless steel that goes under your regular sheet and, connected to the ground port of an outlet, keeps you in contact with the Earth’s natural energy while you sleep. The idea behind grounding is simple, and the people who study it explain it roughly like this: the body is made to be in touch with the earth, and between shoes, floors and a life spent almost entirely indoors, we lost that contact without noticing. The sheet is the easiest way to get it back without changing anything about your routine, because all you have to do is sleep.

The brand belongs to Ana Ducoing, a Mexican founder living in San Diego, and it started with something that happened to her son Diego. He was twelve when, after a day of waterskiing, his legs began to hurt, and by the next day the pain had spread to every joint. Then came crutches, a wheelchair, a long list of tests and months of treatment with a pediatric rheumatologist. About a year later the worst of the pain was gone, but Ana could still see him limping slightly and holding on to the railing on the stairs. She started looking for natural ways to help, tried just about everything, and one day a grounding sheet showed up in her feed. She wasn’t quite sure what it was, but she bought it, and while she waited for it to arrive she read everything she could find on the subject.

Diego was skeptical, like the rest of the family, and Ana asked him every single day whether he felt any better. Until her husband pointed out that she was the one who saw him limp, so she’d notice the change without Diego having to tell her. She stopped asking. Ana says that three weeks later, on a morning when Diego was running late for school, she watched him run up the stairs with his hands on his backpack straps, not touching the railing, and she knew something had shifted. She bought sheets for the whole family, everyone at home started sleeping better, and she hasn’t stopped talking about grounding to anyone who will listen.

There’s another part of the story that explains a lot about the brand. Ana says that on the way back to San Diego after months of treatment, waiting in the jet bridge to board with Diego in a wheelchair, she made a promise: if her son got better, she would dedicate her life to helping people in pain. She had no idea how. She began by asking Diego’s doctor to pass her number along to other mothers going through the same thing, so she could talk with them, because in a moment like that it helps so much to hear from someone who has been there. When grounding came into her life, she understood that this was how she would keep it.

Before launching the brand, Ana spent years trying practically everything on the market for her own family, and that’s where the decisions that set it apart come from. Some grounding sheets are made with silver thread and used as a fitted sheet, directly against the skin, so they need washing every week and lose conductivity within a few months. Others are made of synthetic leather, very conductive, but you can feel the plastic and you sweat at night. Grounded by Ana chose cotton with stainless steel and placed it under the fitted sheet, so you sleep on your own sheets, same as always. It only needs washing every two or three months, or when there’s an accident, and since washing doesn’t affect the steel, the fabric keeps its conductivity for a long time.

The other detail that says a lot is the kit. The sheet comes with testers, because a grounding sheet does nothing if your outlet isn’t grounded, and hardly anyone in the category takes the time to explain that. Ana looks after her customers personally, walks them through the testers and answers by phone or on social media. With something this new to so many people, having someone explain it calmly changes the whole experience.

The funny thing is that you don’t feel the sheet at all. The bed looks and feels exactly the same, and what changes shows up over time. People who use it say the first thing they notice is sleeping better and more deeply, and many also mention less inflammation and less joint pain. Every body is different, and Ana is the first to say it: it isn’t magic, it’s an everyday practice, for kids and grown-ups alike, that you notice little by little. The world she imagines for the brand follows the same idea: a room full of light, a beautifully made bed, soft textiles and a window open to the outdoors, a place that invites you to slow down and rest.

One of her first customers wrote to her from Tijuana to ask whether she could stop by Ana’s house in San Diego to pick up the sheet, because it couldn’t wait. It was for her thirty-year-old daughter, who had been in pain for a long time, was barely sleeping, and had seen Diego’s story. Ana remembers how nervous she felt seeing her put so much faith in it. Two weeks later a message came in: her daughter had gone to a party in Valle de Guadalupe with her friends. They got on the phone and ended up crying together, two mothers who know how exhausting it is to watch a child live with pain every day.

Grounded by Ana speaks most to a well-informed, curious woman, the one who looks after her household’s well-being, who cares about rest, longevity, eating well and staying active, and who would rather invest in something worthwhile than hunt for the cheapest option. She loves discovering new things and sharing what works with the people she cares about. It isn’t for anyone expecting an overnight miracle. What Ana wants you to understand right away is that this isn’t just a sheet, but a simple, comfortable way to bring grounding into your daily life without changing a single habit.
